Magnetic Builder is a useful magnetic design software. It is a tool that allows users to create their own magnetic components by selecting different ferrite core, bobbin type and winding method. Engineering drawings will be automatically produced to reduce the work load for users.
All transformer builds can be saved and reused in a power supply as long as the winding numbers are matched.

13.3.2 Enter the Operating conditions of the applicationBack to top
You may select AC/DC input by clicking on the radio box to the left of the words "AC Input" and "DC Input".
Vinmax and Vinmin can be changed by updating the value in the text box.
Output voltage and current can be self-defined by updating the value of the corresponding text boxes.
Click "Recommend Xformer" to preview the design sample.
Click "default setting" to return to the initial settings.
The number of output can be changed by clicking the + and - buttons on the right/left of "O/P". The maximum number of output is restricted between 1 and 5 depending on the application selected.
Output voltage and current can be self-defined by updating the value of the corresponding text boxes.
Operating frequency can be changed by clicking the frequency value.
High frequency transformers are also available as PowerEsim will suggest a suitable transformer for the requested operating frequency.
Clicking " more..." allows users to update the value of the corresponding text boxes.
Operating frequency can be changed by entering the value in the text boxes.
You may change the Core shape, material and manufacturer by clicking the "Core" button.
Please refer to Session 3--Component Finder. Change L0 by putting new values in the text box to the right of L0 =. Clicking "Keeping L0 by" allows users to choose how to maintain the L0 of the transformer. If the box on the left of "Keeping L0 by" is checked, it allows air gap and allows changes to N0. Click "help" to go to user manual. Click "Apply" to update the changes.
If the box to the left of Keep Turn Ratio is checked, once you change the number of turns in the transformer illustration in the middle, the other windings will update the number of turns in ratio.
Click "Vanish" to change the type and manufacturer of vanish used. Click "UL Insulation System" to change the manufacturer. Click the image to go to the website of the manufacturer. Click the "help " button to refer to the user manual. Click "Apply" to confirm the setting. Click "Close" to close the page.
Click the image to right of "Wire= ", "Tape= ","Vanish" or "UL Insulation System" to go to the website of the manufacturer.
Click "Add Pri" to increase the number of primary windings. Click "Add Sec" to increase the number of secondary windings. Click "Delete" at the side of the windings to delete that winding. Update the value in the text box in the winding to change the number of turns of that winding. Enter the value in the text box to change the number of turns.
Click "Advanced" to open the "Magnetic Builder - Winding Construction" page for further implementations in the transformer.
Enter the updated value in the text box to change the number of transformers in parallel or in series. The information on left "Xformer Loss", "Stress" and "Bm" will be automatically updated.
"Xformer Loss" means the losses of the whole transformer.
"fs" is the average switching frequency of the main switch.
"Stress" is the transformer's operating stress including losses.
"Bm" is the peak flux density of the transformer.
Click on the words in the red box to open the transformer tester page.
Click on the words in the yellow box to open the transformer's loss and stress summary page.
Transformer Tester page: Users can change the operating conditions in the transformer tester by entering the values in the text box.
Check the Use Recommended Values box. Some conditions will be locked.
After modifications, please click on "Recalculate" on the right to update the changes. Transformer results will then be changed.
1. Click to change the number of turns and type of wire.
2. Click to change the settings of the winding N0,0 (similarly to change the setting of N0,1, N1 and N2)
When N0,0=N0,1, users can click the button, then click "ok" to change.
Click the drop-down menu on the right to change the order of the winding.
As shown below:
Click the arrow on the right to open "Advance Winding Construction" to change the detailed settings of winding, tape, upper and lower creepage width, creepage position and winding indent.
3. Click to change split or parallel, and the number of windings.
Users can click "Bobbin Setting" to open "Advanced Bobbin Setting".
"Advanced Bobbin Setting" includes four parts: 1. Bobbin Thickness 2. Split Wall & Partition 3. Winding Detail Setting 4. Preview
1. Bobbin Thickness: Users can input values in the text box, then it will be displayed on the left.
2. Split Wall & Partition: Users can select the type of split wall, number of split walls and thickness of split wall. It will be displayed on the left.
3. Winding Detail Setting: Users can select "Use Absolute Value" or "Use Ratio" and input values in the text box. It will appear on the left.
The thickness and material of the tape can be set by changing the value of "Type". When clicked, user can select different tape through the drop-down menu. There is data sheet in green box. Click "Apply" to save the change.
The no. of turn of the tape can be set by changing the value of "No. of Layer".
